First, I have been going to Lou & Harry's at other locations for a number of years. Always dependable, good quality food and friendly staff. This particular location however, has disappointed me twice in the last few months, the latest time, today. I'll just focus on today's visit. Problem #1: Cashier seemed clueless about the specials. Not particularly friendly either. We usually get a "hello" from the other locations. Not at this one. Problem #2: Competing noise. A college football game was on the TVs. That's fine. But don't be playing loud music from Sirius or whereever you are getting your music. It is seriously annoying. If nothing else, turn the volume off on the TVs. Problem #3: I'm not sure if my order was wrong--I went ahead and ate it because we were short on time. But the name of the sandwich, "Cheesy gyro" makes me think it was just cheese in a pita with sauce. Nope--gyro meat with feta & sauce. It was ok and I didn't ask, so maybe that's my fault. In any case, maybe a short description would be helpful. Problem #4: Ice machine fill up time. When ice falls on the floor (understandable), you really should mop it up. You have a lawsuit waiting to happen otherwise. It never did get cleaned up. Problem #5. My small Greek salad had been sitting around a little too long--it was ok and I'm not sick, but it also wasn't very appetizing. Problem #6: My daughter (age 20) said her fries tasted like they weren't fresh. I tasted one--yep, pretty stale tasting. Same with husband's. Don't let fries sit around--just toss them and make enough for a new batch when someone orders. Problem #7: You used to feel like you were definitely getting your money's worth. Not here--just average sized portions. I won't visit this location again. I'll stick to my tried and true (and far superior) location in Okemos. This location isn't terrible, just not worth my time or money.

Oh Lou and Harry's...how I missed you. Thrilled I had business to attend to in East Lansing, meeting a friend here for lunch was the perfect Monday. It was my first trip to this location and it was clean and service was excellent. I forgot(I don't know how) how much I love the west coast club on dark wheat bread, piled high with turkey, provolone, avocado and fresh veggies...you can get these sandwiches in small or large...I can't even imagine what the large is like...oh the perfectly cut fries , done to just the right crispness. My friend had a gigantic cheese quesadilla with loads of giant pieces of chicken...it looked fabulous. I have missed Lou and Harry's since my MSU days and I remember why...I love places where you can get something deliciously healthy or something deliciously disastrous and this is it. One of EL's finest sandwich shops, finest places for hangover food and finest greek. Very reasonably priced for what you get. Great lunch specials too...cannot WAIT to go back.

I decided to go here for lunch. I'm glad I beat the lunch crowd. I couldn't imagine coming here, during the middle of lunch rush. You would be waiting for forever for your food. I'm glad it's fresh though. I got the chicken shish-kabob special. It was really good. The chicken was good, it wasn't dry at all. The pita bread was thick and soft. It was came with rice and salad and a drink for 8.99. It's a really good deal. I couldn't even eat all of it. It's was a big portion of food. But my only complaint, it's summertime! rRstaurants have to turn the air on way before they open. OMG they the grill in the front those ceiling fans aren't doing anything. It was too stuffy in there.

First let me share that I absolutely LOVED this establishment! My family and I frequented this place often. (The Grand River/E. Saginaw location) That is UNTIL the co manager left the store! This guy is truly amazing in his customer service and people skills. He must have been amazing at running the staff too cause we NEVER had any complaints or issues. Now for the past 6months it seems we've run into nothing but disappointment with this resturant. We've had a conversation with the new manager whose going to be running this location from now on and to no avail when we go in they always (cooking staff) end up messing up our orders!!! Here's our issue: 1. We've ordered chicken either on a sandwhich or for a salad and the meat has been gamey and rubbery. Not good at all 2. The salt they put on the french fries is horrible! They salt their french fries way too much, so much so that we've attempted to rub or wipe the stuff off and when you do, even when you "flick" the fries you can see and hear tons of salt dropping off the fries! Why is this?! it got so bad we started asking for no salt and what happens? They forget or have a brain fart and add MORE salt on the fries. It's truly disgusting. Lastly, they cook those skinny fries way too long, turning them into sticks. Because this has happened so often, too often, even after we've complained, we have decided to no longer do business with Lou & Harry's. Too much money wasted! Think about it, their combos are $8 to $9!!! If I am going to be paying that amount I want my food to order and it be edible! Understand that most of our orders were take out orders. We've dined in and had better quality, but again that is when the other co manager was at the resturant. With him gone, the quality has gone way down hill. So, for the most part when we want to eat take out, we'll be going to Bell's Greek PIzza who now has Gluten free bread, although they have the same seasoning salt on their fries, they offer an alternative, potato chips! They also have gluten free cookies and Pizza. Sorry to have to go guys! It's been a great run but I guess all good things come to an end, although it didn't have to.

Not as good as the original on Grand River. But, oh! The greek dressing just as fabulous as ever. If you dine in, you will smell like Lou and Harrys for the rest of the day - consider yourself warned!

Very good Greek food. They can be slow but are worth the wait. They have coke products as well as iced tea and a crystal light machine. The atmosphere is casual. You clean up after yourself. We did have a a hard time finding a table that was wiped down. The cucumber sauce and dressing are super!

I've been going to Lou and Harry's since I moved to Lansing a few years back. Over time, I've become less and less impressed. First, they shortened hours for their lunch specials. Then the increased the prices of the combos while decreasing the size of the drink cups. It's $8.00 or more for a combo now. You might as well go get a nice dinner someplace for a few dollars more. Most frustrating to me is apparently the staff can close early if they feel like it and business is slow. I never know when they'll actually be open later in the evening. Sometimes they will be open but the staff has already stacked chairs on the tables and have cleared away everything. I like their fries and the gyros, while not totally authentic are still pretty good. So I'll go every once and again.

I'm not sure why, but I put this place off for a long time. Value: $5 lunch combos. Great value. Quality: I got the gyro combo. Tuesday and Thursday? Anyway. Very good gyro. I don't think the gyro meat came off of a rotating spit, but I really don't care. It was really good. I grew up in metro Detroit and this sandwich is a good sandwich. After I finished, I ordered a spinach pie. That was a microwave reheat, but after a few minutes of cool-down, pretty good. LOTS of spinach filling. Service: I was a little annoyed at first about how long it took. Then I took a step back and looked around. The place was PACKED. So, I waited... My food finally got to me nice and hot and fresh. Nothing to complain about. Overall impression: I kept avoiding and kept avoiding, knowing I wouldn't like it. I don't know why. Just something about it that seemed too... I dunno... Anyway. I was wrong. I do like it. I will be back. For the gyros.

I've been going here since I was young, and it's just plain yummy food. Comfort food, hangover food, whatever. Their spinach pies are usually great, pastas, lasagnas, and don't forget their gyro and cheeseburgers (esp when they are on special). I also love their fries. And Tommy's. God, discovering the Tommy was amazing. And their Greek dressing.. the BEST Greek dressing I've ever had. No matter what I eat, I get a side of it to let my inner fat girl indulge. All in all, cheap, good food, and they definitely never hold back on quantity. Expect to leave bursting.

I went here today to get a gyro. It tasted fine and was an appropriate size. The meat is heated on their grill and not shaven from a kabob so don't be disappointed if you do not get it that way. The salad I received with it was fine, even though I am not a fan of iceberg lettuce. I chose the salad this time as their fries are not my favorite. Overall, the prices aren't bad and the food is OK. I will return if I am in the mood for quick, basic Mediterranean food.

This may be an inflated score since I've been coming here since this place has opened, but I love the food here. Their gyros are great, and their sandwiches rock the house for sure. And for about $7-8 you get full right quick. They also have salads, which I've heard are pretty tasty, but check them out Monday-Thursday, they usually have a combo that's on special all day. If you're looking for a quick, filling lunch, come check this place out. You won't leave hungry or disappointed.

Basically, I don't have much to say about this place, but on certain days if you come in and order drinks, you have access to a free taco bar. Jesus Christ how could this not be a favorite.

I went here with my father in law for take out during the lunch rush. We ordered 2 spicy gyros, a tender chicken, plus a large Ceasars salad. We waited a long time, and we didn't mind, they were busy, so completely understandable. After waiting for about 20 minutes; a order is called that we think is ours, but before we have a chance to check, a lady with two kids comes and picks it up and takes off. She came in after us, so we asked the staff if that's right. They said our food is coming, but just takes a little longer to cook. A name is called that no one is picking up. My father in law asks if that's our order, we tell them what we had ordered and the cook confirms that it's our order. We take it and leave. When we get home and open to eat we realize it's not our order. As the final display of how unorganized they were, the salad was full of sand.. I will not be coming back, there are plenty of other restaurants with better food and service.

I have always loved Lou and Harry's, but recently their prices have risen so high that I can't give them a higher rating than a 3 star. If you can't make it in for the lunch specials you will pay too much. My favorite thing to get is the Tommy Pita, with the original gyro combo with a side salad as my second choice. If I could give a separate rating for their Greek salad dressing I would definitely give it a five star review. I have never had a better Greek dressing. And a bonus is that they sell it by the bottle ($5 for 16ish ounces). The place is very popular, but you can expect quick service. Seating at noon can be tight, but that's typically a good sign.

I tried this place because someone told me it was the best gyro in Lansing. Mind you, I had tried Aladdin's in downtown prior to this. We tried Lou & Harry's in East Lansing/Frandor area because it's closer to home. We waited a very long time to get waited on for starters. There was not a line, but there were only two guys back there and to be fair they did look busy. Anyway the gyro was probably the worst gyro I've ever had in my life. Clearly not cut fresh from the spit. The meat was frozen, I think. Also they had brownies that were clearly from GFS. It's not the place to go if you want fresh or authentic. We did not try anything else (well my husband got fries and those were mediocre at best) but judging by the gyros, I'm going to have to say stay away from here.

Very good gyros, go for the open face one, seems you get much more with it. Kids love the spaghetti! The inside is jenky but the outdoor seating is nice.

Not the place it used to be. The quality & taste is declining & the counter staff could use an attitude adjustment. Approximately 50% of the time, our take out order us wrong, like last night when they forgot half of the food but still charged us for it. I keep hoping they'll turn it around.

4 stars, but it's a complicated four stars. See, Lou & Harry's is somewhere between a fast food joint and a Coney Island. As a Coney Island, it does well because it's so much cheaper than any local Coneys, but I didn't see any Coney Dogs on the menu. As a fast food joint, it's much higher quality food and can be cheaper than lots of fast food places. During the week, you can get a daily special, and it's quite a big discount. $4 on a Tuesday will get you a cheeseburger, large soda, and fries or salad, all of which makes even Wendy's look disgusting in comparison. Wednesday is Gyro day, Thursday is Chicken sandwich day, but I don't know the other two yet. So if I think of Wendy's as a good solid 3 stars, I ought to give Lou & Harry's 4. Now, nothing on the menu will blow you away, but you get a good lunch. The burger is a real burger with real toppings, and the salads are nice and fresh. The fries I'm not that impressed by, but they will load you up on them if you want.

Super close to campus. It's a popular lunch spot. You go up to the counter and order and go find a seat and bus your own table. Mmmm, fine dining indeed! It's fast service and they serve some really good chili cheese fries and gyros. I use to treat myself to the chili cheese fries on my birthday when I went to state for 2 years. Very reasonably priced. High class, elegant chili cheese fries.

The food here is great! The gyros & fries are done perfectly and the salads are good as well. At this location you will find it cleaner and operating with a more friendly & competant staff than in EL!
